Isaiah 11:10-12:2

¹⁰ It will happen in that day that the nations will seek the root of Jesse, who stands as a banner of the peoples; and his resting place will be glorious. ¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. ¹² He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. ¹³ The envy also of Ephraim will depart, and those who persecute Judah will be cut off. Ephraim won’t envy Judah, and Judah won’t persecute Ephraim. ¹⁴ They will fly down on the shoulders of the Philistines on the west. Together they will plunder the children of the east. They will extend their power over Edom and Moab, and the children of Ammon will obey them. ¹⁵ Yahweh will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind he will wave his hand over the River, and will split it into seven streams, and cause men to march over in sandals. ¹⁶ There will be a highway for the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, like there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. ¹ In that day you will say, “I will give thanks to you, Yahweh; for though you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you comfort me. ² Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust, and will not be afraid; for Yah, Yahweh, is my strength and song; and he has become my salvation.”

Genesis 7:11-8:3

¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the sky’s windows opened. ¹² It rained on the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth—the sons of Noah—and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship— ¹⁴ they, and every animal after its kind, all the livestock after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort. ¹⁵ Pairs from all flesh with the breath of life in them went into the ship to Noah. ¹⁶ Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; then Yahweh shut him in. ¹⁷ The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the ship, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ The waters rose, and increased greatly on the earth; and the ship floated on the surface of the waters. ¹⁹ The waters rose very high on the earth. All the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered. ²⁰ The waters rose fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered. ²¹ All flesh died that moved on the earth, including birds, livestock, animals, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. ²² All on the dry land, in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. ²³ Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including man, livestock, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship. ²⁴ The waters flooded the earth one hundred fifty days. ¹ God remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the ship; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided. ² The deep’s fountains and the sky’s windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained. ³ The waters continually receded from the earth. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters decreased.

Proverbs 10:1-22

¹ The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother. ² Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. ³ Yahweh will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked. ⁴ He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth. ⁵ He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame. ⁶ Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. ⁷ The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot. ⁸ The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall. ⁹ He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out. ¹⁰ One winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall. ¹¹ The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. ¹² Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs. ¹³ Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding. ¹⁴ Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin. ¹⁵ The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty. ¹⁶ The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin. ¹⁷ He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray. ¹⁸ He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool. ¹⁹ In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely. ²⁰ The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth. ²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding. ²² Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
